September 14th, 2009 the IGA executive board has decided the creation of a commercial company which offers re-sequencing and bioinformatic services to the scientific community.
The new company, that will be operational as of September 15th, 2009, is headquartered at the Scientific and Technological Park "Luigi Danieli", Udine (Italy) and is ready to provide sequencing (Sanger method) and re-sequencing (Illumina 2nd generation sequencing technology) services as well as other products and services like genomic and cDNA libraries, forensic genotyping, BAC fingerprinting and physical maps, bioinformatic analyses and data management including client-oriented data management and remote accessing.

Transferring sequencing services to the new company allows IGA, which is a not for profit research institution, to focus on its core mission, i.e. research, while the new company will be in an ideal position to best satisfy customer needs thanks to the use of the technologies that are being optimized and developed in IGA's research programs.
The CEO of the new company is Federica Cattonaro, PhD, who graduated at University of Trieste, did her PhD under the supervision of prof. Morgante at University of Udine.
She served in private companies for several years and three years ago was appointed at IGA as genomics lab head.
